For Kun Covington, extra virgin olive oil is more than an ingredient. It is something worth understanding, tasting, and sharing.
For years, Kun has been helping people in Utah better understand high-quality extra virgin olive oil. She has taught olive oil tasting classes through University of Utah Lifelong Learning and Utah Valley University Continuing Education, introducing participants to the fundamentals of tasting, evaluating, using, and properly storing extra virgin olive oil.
Her classes explore the history and culture of olive oil, professional tasting, everyday use, and proper storage, while helping participants understand how olive varieties, freshness, and production methods influence aroma, flavor, and overall quality.
Beyond university classrooms, Kun also leads private olive oil tasting experiences for businesses, organizations, families, and community groups. These have included events for Adobe and Salt Lake Rotary, as well as birthday celebrations, community gatherings, and other special occasions.
Through guided tasting and comparison, participants are encouraged to trust their own senses and better understand what fresh, well-made extra virgin olive oil should smell and taste like.
Kun believes that education helps people make more informed choices while developing a deeper appreciation for the farming, harvesting, and craftsmanship behind every bottle of quality extra virgin olive oil.
At Lovevoo, education is an important part of our mission. Through classes, private tastings, community events, and ongoing educational content, Kun continues to share her knowledge and passion for extra virgin olive oil throughout Utah.
